Brent Wayne Blood, October 3, 1979

Let's get the vital facts out of the way early. My name is Brent Blood, though my friends call me b-rent. I'm in my mid-twenties. I live in Seattle Washington, working as a network engineer for a company that makes "Internet gear". That's as specific as I want to get - but you're welcome to ask me more. I grew up in a small town in northwestern Pennsylvania right on lake Erie. In high school, I played baseball, and a couple years of football and cross-country. I graduated from college at Penn State where I studied electrical engineering, hit on the ladies, and drank lots of alcohol (though not enough of any one of those three).

Now let's get to my everyday interests. I love my car, a 2003 MAZDASPEED Protegé. I'm not a "car guy" but I would like to be one someday. I love sports, especially baseball. It is not uncommon for me to catch several renditions of Sports Center a day as well as Baseball Tonight in the summer. I am a huge New York Yankees fan, but chances are good that if you are rooting for a team (which isn't playing the Yanks of course) and I'm watching the game with you, I'll gladly root for them too, with the notable exception of the Boston Red Sox; I staunchly refuse to support them.

I collect legacy UNIX computer systems. My home network is fairly extensive, but I'm trying to keep my place from getting cluttered with it. I am very opinionated when it comes to the philosophy behind computing. I believe strongly in free software and try to use free software whenever I can as well as give back to the community. I can program in many languages but mainly write Java and Python these days (this website is written in Java).

Some quick disjoint facts: I like to cook, and I like to eat even more. I have an opinion about everything and I'm not afraid to say what it is. I do not like vegetables. At all. I like alcohol. Until you prove otherwise, I assume that I'm smarter than you. I do not do illegal drugs. I cannot skateboard, though I can rollerblade pretty well. I like math. I am cynical but hard to get in a bad mood. I like to read and my favorite authors include JRR Tolkien and Neal Stephenson. I think I'm the funniest person alive. My favorite music is 90's grunge. People that have poor grammar annoy me. My favorite movies are: The Big Lebowski, Office Space, Transformers: The Movie, Boondock Saints, and Con Air. I don't like much new mainstream music, and I'm not sure if it's because it sucks or I'm just an elitist. I don't like video games, though I used to. I like being outside. I keep my baseball glove in my trunk just in case somebody wants to play catch.
